Best QR Code Generator for Restaurants in India (It Is Not a PDF)

Indian restaurants buy three different products thinking they are one: a PNG of a Drive file, a live HTML menu, and a full QR ordering POS. Only one of those is “a QR menu.” We sell the middle one. Checked against how cafes actually print, 26 Oct 2026.

We build QR tools that restaurants actually print and use.

Ask a cafe owner in Indiranagar for their QR menu. Half the time it is a Canva PDF on Drive. A quarter of the time it is a Swiggy listing. The rest bought a “QR ordering system” and still take orders on paper because the kitchen never opened the tablet. Google “best QR code generator for restaurants India” and every vendor pretends those three are the same SKU.

They are not. This page names the three products, says who should buy which, and puts QR Junction in the middle on purpose: we generate the restaurant QR and host a phone menu you can edit. We do not run your KOT. Print sizes, HTML vs PDF, and per-table codes are already in the how-to. We will not repeat that physics here.

Three products Indian restaurants keep mixing up

If you cannot point at which one you need, you will buy the wrong login.

Why “upload PDF, get QR” is not a restaurant product

Split view of a pinch-zoom PDF menu versus a scrollable HTML menu with veg filter
If they pinch-zoom, you published a file. If they tap veg, you published a menu.

It is fast. That is the sales pitch. Guests on a 2019 Android with cafe WiFi do not care that it was fast for you. Drive asks them to sign in. The file is 12 MB of food photography. Half and full prices sit in a footnote. GST is a rumour.

A generator that only encodes the PDF URL is doing its job. The restaurant is not. If your current “menu QR” is that, you do not need a new generator brand. You need a page. Then any dynamic QR can point at it — including ours at the menu QR code generator.

What a real QR code menu generator for restaurants must do

India-specific, not a US SaaS checklist.

  • Items as data — name, category, ₹, veg/non-veg/Jain, GST in or extra. Not a photograph of the laminated card.
  • Phone-first HTML — large type, no horizontal scroll, filters, half and full on the item.
  • Dynamic tent — hide dum aloo at 2 pm without calling the printer.
  • Optional per-table codes — same menu, different short links, so scan tracking is not one lump called “floor.”
  • Separate review QR on the bill — Google review QR, not on the menu tent.
  • UPI stays on its own standee — labelled Pay. Mixing payment into the menu is how refunds start.

When you actually need QR ordering (POS)

High table-turn, no runners, you want the ticket in the kitchen without a waiter taking the order. Then MenuScan-class tools (ordering + Razorpay/UPI + KOT) or the QR module on the POS you already pay for (Petpooja and cousins) is the product. Budget in the ₹250–₹2,000/month band plus payment MDR. Local IST support matters when Saturday night the tablet dies.

QR Junction is not that. If a roundup lists us as “complete ordering,” they copied a template. We will not. Use us to get the menu on the phone. Keep your POS for tickets and tax. Plenty of busy rooms do exactly that split.

Who should pick what, in India

Dhaba, 12 items, prices change when oil does — HTML menu + one house QR. QR Junction or any honest digital-menu host. Not a POS.

Cafe chain, 40 seats, you want to know if the window QR does anything — HTML menu + per-table or per-placement codes. Still not a POS unless you take the order on the phone.

Cloud kitchen that only exists on Swiggy — you may not need a table tent at all. A packaging QR to WhatsApp reorder or Instagram is a small-business play, not a menu suite.

Fine dine that wants wine pairings and 120 SKUs with modifiers — a serious digital-menu or POS menu builder. A free generator plus Canva will make you look like a stall.

India gotchas the global “best of” lists skip

GST on top vs GST included — put it on the item. Guests argue. Waiters lose.

Hindi or local names on the card, English on the PDF, chaos on the phone — pick one display language per item, not a photograph of mixed scripts.

UPI QR already on the table — if the menu square looks the same, someone will pay the menu. Colour, caption, distance.

Fake sticker overlays — print the restaurant name under the code. Staff glance when they wipe. Safety notes: are QR codes safe.

Generator priced in USD with no GST invoice — your CA will ask. Scanova is the India-HQ enterprise QR vendor if that PO needs ISO. A cafe usually does not.

Buy a menu. Optionally buy a POS. Never buy a PDF.

The best QR code generator for restaurants in India is the one that publishes dishes as a page, ties it to a dynamic tent, and does not pretend to be your kitchen. QR Junction is built for that middle. Ordering systems are a different purchase. Drive PDFs are how you reprint in monsoon.

Build the page. Generate the menu QR. Sit in the darkest seat and scan. Then print the rest.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best QR code menu generator for restaurants in India?

For a live HTML menu and dynamic tents: a restaurant QR suite such as QR Junction. For ordering and UPI checkout on the phone: a POS/QR-ordering vendor. For a one-night pop-up with a frozen menu: even a static SVG can work. Do not use a Drive PDF as the destination.

Is a PDF menu okay if I already designed it in Canva?

As a backup on the host stand, yes. As the scan destination, no. Convert dishes into a page guests can scroll. Details in the QR code menu vs PDF guide.

Can customers order and pay through QR Junction?

No. This product is for viewing a digital menu and tracking scans. Ordering and payments need your POS or UPI flow. Keep those QRs visually separate.

Do I need one QR per table?

One house code is enough to launch. Add per-table codes when you want scan counts per table or a table number on the menu.

Which is cheaper: reprinting paper menus or a digital QR menu?

If you change prices more than twice a season, the printer already lost. Dynamic HTML is cheaper than monsoon reprints. Static PDF QRs do not fix that.

Should the Google review QR sit on the menu tent?

No. Menu is menu. Put the review QR on the bill, after they liked the food.
